Be D-I-Y

In the last of our Creative Clinics for the 2011 Not Part of Festival we go essential!

The present climate – political, economic, social, astrological – calls for the artist or entreprenuer to stand on their own two feet instead of the previous reliance on ulterior funding.

D-I-Y ethos in the arts has been around since day one & although championed by many trailblazers, it has regularly been an alternative, side-stream route to take; whether creating or curating.

Recent upheavals in the way we approach our work have meant taht D-I-Y is very much at the forefront, with an increasing number recognising the ethos as a great way to be cutting edge, self sufficient and sustainable.

You can get your work out there by your own means – no need for big business funding which can often result in constraint.

At the heart of D-I-Y’s current growth are arts organisations like Blank Media Collective. Click the link below to see how it’s done!

Here at Not Part Of we like to think of ourselves  as purveyors of the D-I-Y ethos. We are inspired by and support those who carry the beacon and can blaze the trail themself. Check out our very own case study and top tips from festival director.
